History of the establishment

The establishment has known 4 important stages of its existence:

1986: INES (National Institutes of Higher Education) of industrial chemistry by decree n ° 86-172 of 05 May 1986:

- 123 students

- 2 Algerian teachers, 12 foreign teachers.

1992: set up as a University Center by executive decree n ° 92-299 of 07 July 1992:

- 2 134 students.

- 80 teachers.

2001: University composed of 3 faculties by executive decree n ° 01-273 of September 30, 2001:

- 6 784 students.

- 174 teachers.

2010:The University of Guelma was reorganized into seven (7) faculties by Executive Decree No. 10-16 of January 21, 2010.

- 15 145 students.

- 556 teachers.

2019-2020 : Currently

- 15 693 students.

- 869 teachers.

CONSISTENCY OF UNIVERSITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Most important data since the establishment of the establishment to date:

The higher education and scientific research sector in Guelma covers a total area of 65.6 ha, including 42 ha for the University of May 8, 1945 and 23.6 ha for University works.

The University May 8, 1945 - Guelma is divided into four Campuses, 7 university residences with outbuildings with a total physical capacity of 10,500 beds and 4 daily restaurants with a capacity of 800 seats each.
